Jobs push continues with $50 million Minnesota Senate proposal
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Senate Democrats are outlining a $50 million proposal to create jobs by spurring investment in startup companies, historic fix-ups and energy-efficient buildings.
Sen. James Metzen of South St. Paul says his bill would put thousands of people to work.
Metzen and other Democrats unveiled the proposal at a Capitol news conference on Monday.
Democrats who control the Legislature are focusing their first major pieces of legislation this year on employment. Last week they proposed a $1 billion package of construction projects designed to create thousands of jobs.
Metzen's bill doesn't mention the Mall of America, unlike a House proposal that would adjust tax provisions to prompt an expansion at the megamall in Bloomington.
