Chisholm shooting victim's condition improves, fund established
DULUTH - The man critically wounded in Saturday's Chisholm shooting is improving.
Doctors at St. Mary's Hospital have upgraded 29-year-old Cale Nelson's condition from critical to serious. Nelson's family says two bullets hit six organs, including his stomach and kidney, and he will have to undergo more surgeries.
The family has set up a benefit fund at Wells Fargo Banks under the name Cale Nelson.
Saturday's shooting at Jim's Sports Club Bar and Grill killed Ed Walberg, 40, and also injured Larry Elj, 38, who is out of the hospital and back at work.
The suspect is in the St. Louis County Jail in Hibbing and is expected to face charges on Thursday.
