Superior hockey team gets to practice with NHL star
FOX 21 News
One local hockey team got a rare treat Saturday morning as NHL star Phil Kessel was in Duluth, to work out with the Superior Bantam Bs.
Superior player Kyler Moss won the "Practice of a Lifetime" contest, sponsored by Play it Again Sports and Bauer.
Kessel, a Madison native who plays for the Boston Bruins, was actually supposed to skate with the Spartans, but recent shoulder surgery kept him on the bench as a coach as he ran the kids through drills.
Even without Kessel on the ice, Moss and his teammates had a day to remember.
"It was fun, yeah, it was fun for sure," Moss said. "It was fun to know he does the same drills we do on a an everyday basis. We just had fun with it."
"Obviously, I'm not a coach, but obviously ... I've done a lot of practices [and] I wanted to show them a couple drills out there," Kessel said.
